Current Internships 

 

We are currently looking for interns for FALL 2009 and later. 
 

Artistic

Daytime and evening, 16 hours/week 

The Artistic intern will gain valuable experience in all aspects of artistic planning.  Working closely with the Artistic Director, the Artistic intern will  be responsible for reading scripts submitted for the 09/10 Translations & Adaptations playreading series,  working with the thinkTank producer and planning, work as a fact-checker for all print materials (i.e. production playbill, dramaturgical information), create cast lists and other supportive materials for events outside the 09/10 mainstage season, such as readings and the production of the Playbill, The intern is expected to engage with the Chicago theatre community, for example by seeing shows and attending community events.

Deadlines to apply:

·         June 12 for Fall internship- August 1 (or later by mutual agreement) through December 31, 2009.

·         November 20 for Spring internship January 1 through May 28, 2010.
 

Video/ Media

Daytime and evening

The Video/ Media intern will work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to filming and editing two promotional videos for each show. The types of videos that will be shot are:

o         Two 1-minute excerpts for media broadcast (television and websites). The scenes will be shot from 3 or more angles and edited together.

o         A movie trailer style preview video: a montage of multiple scenes edited together with a music or spoken word score underneath, and graphic title intro and ending screen.

All video scenes will be staged during tech rehearsals, and would be shot within a 60 – 90 minute timeframe.  Segments will need to be edited and delivered to Remy Bumppo in DVD format within two business days.  The movie trailer preview, which requires more intensive editing, can be delivered within 4 or 5 business days. Interns must be at least 18 years of age, have access to professional-grade filming and editing equipment, 2 or more years of experience shooting and editing film, or presently enrolled in a film course and working under supervision of an advisor.   Please complete application, submit a sample of recent video work and e-mail to the Director of Marketing & Communications: skulke@remybumppo.org

Special Events

Daytime and evening, 16 hours/week 
The Special Events intern will gain valuable experience in all aspects of event planning and execution.  Working closely with the Program Director, the Special Events intern will coordinate logistics for all events including: volunteer management, catering, technical needs, purchasing and maintaining inventory, and running events.  Events include Opening Night receptions, Firtst Rehearsal Receptions, Annual Benefit, and play readings.  Applicants must have a reliable car and be able to lift 25 pounds.
 

Marketing

Daytime, 20+ hours/week

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company is seeking a spring 2010 marketing intern for 20 - 24 hours per week starting January 4, 2010 for a wide variety of marketing assignments. Strong writing ability a must.  College graduate preferred.  Experience in group sales and marketing to ethnic media/groups a plus.  Stipend available.  Please e-mail resume, writing sample and reference to the Director of Marketing & Communications: skulke@remybumppo.org

Casting

Daytime and/or evening as needed

The Fall Casting Intern will assist the Casting Director with season general auditions and headshot/resume files.  Audition duties include scheduling actors and assisting with auditions.  Headshot/resume duties include data entry, scanning and filing of headshot/resumes. Knowledge of Access a plus.  Season General Auditions are December 2009.  If interested please apply as soon as possible. This particular internship is for academic credit only, no stipend currently available.

Requirements
Interns must be at least 18 years of age and have some experience in the area of specialty and some computer literacy. While a theatre degree is not necessary, Remy Bumppo interns are usually people who plan to pursue a career in the arts. The minimum time commitment is 2 days a week in day and/or evening work.

*Compensation
Remy Bumppo offers its interns either a limited stipend or academic credit. Stipends are determined by time commitment and type of internship. Remy Bumppo will assist in tailoring internships to meet the credit requirements of individual schools. However, interns must make all credit arrangements.

While international applicants are encouraged to apply, Remy Bumppo cannot sponsor foreign applicants or assist with visa arrangements. All housing arrangements are the responsibility of the intern.
